Barron Canyon - Algonquin

Amanda and I like the great outdoors, especially one canoe trip on the eastern edge of Algonquin park called the Barron Canyon. We have paddled this route 4 or five times in the past few years and except for battling bugs, we always find it magical. These first couple of shots are from a trip Amanda and I took a few summer ago.

The Aizlewood clan (with me in tow), paddled and portaged through a very sunny, buggy and, ultimately, relaxing weekend canoe trip to the Barron Canyon at the end of June, '05. Everyone portaged like old pros and, as the smiles profess, the weekend was a success and a great change to relax and take in the sights, smells and sounds that cities do not provide. Highlights include watching a poor couple make portage heavy kayaks using five trips across a portage, over a 2 and half hour period,Herculean Jonathan with a canoe on his head, praying we would not loose the canoes on the drive in, dreaming of ice cold beers on a lazy afternoon and an ice cold coke when we finished.
