Formula 1 - Montreal
For the past several years, we have attended the F1 race in Montreal. In 2004, we happily had to skip it because race day was also our wedding day. But in 2005 we rejoined F1 weekend, with the smell of burning rubber and incredibly noisy cars, for a perfect way to celebrate our first anniversary.
For a peak at what the view is like from the Section 33 grandstands, have a look at the panorama I created during the 2003 race.
And 2006 was no different as we enjoyed the race from a new spot in the hairpin, letting us see a lot more of the action as the cars tried to slow down for the tight turn and then speed up along the long back stright, as you can see from the panorama of Section 34.
Montreal comes alive for F1 weekend, with many South American, Americans and Europeans in town to add flavour. Streets are closed for car parades and fashion shows and the crowds flock to the track. This year was stinking hot at 40+ degrees but is is always a blast to see the power and speed of these cars. It is just lucky that we got to see a race, when a week later the F1 race in Indianapolis turned into a fiasco and a laughable "race" with the Ferraris and alsorands the only cars running. These pictures are from the 2003, 2005 and 2006 races, with action taken from grandstands 33 and 34.
